The Snake Husband Is in Charge

I was born under an extremely yin fate, on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month, the Ghost Festival. It was also on that day, eighteen years ago, that my mother gave birth to me... They say I stayed in her womb for thirteen whole months, yet chose that very day to come into the world. The sky was thick with clouds, lightning flashed and thunder roared, but not a drop of rain fell. Bolts of lightning struck down, scattering sparks everywhere.

The Ghost Festival already has a gloomy atmosphere, and with thunder crashing overhead, everyone in the family was on edge. Suddenly, the side room of our house caught fire. The west wing was where my grandfather kept his treasures, and he cherished that room above all. So the whole family rushed to put out the fire. Thankfully, there wasn't much damage. Only one painting was burned, an ancient portrait of a woman.
