I Have a Bewitching Charm I Can't Use

One day in late spring, Jing Che sat beneath an apricot blossom tree by the mountain gate, reading. Lu Li came over and asked him, "Senior Brother, what does 'the heavenly pattern runs vertically and horizontally; when yang departs, life perishes' mean in the ancient book?" Jing Che remembered answering him like this: "The heavens follow their constant course. When the soul leaves, life ends. A person's soul and body are closely connected. Once the soul leaves the body, that person dies." Lu Li asked again, "Then what else does the soul do?" Jing Che set down his book, thought for a while, and replied, "The soul gives all actions a greater tenderness. Like the apricot blossoms falling now, so they can become spring mud and nourish the flowers once more; like a lamp in a snowbound hut in the depths of winter, waiting for someone to come home through the storm; or like the clouds, which would not die for the moon, while I would live for you."
