Letters from the Snowy Mountains: I Met Zhaxi in Lhasa

A burned-out office worker crushed by the pressures of city life × a Tibetan homestay owner who holds fast to his beliefs. They heal each other as they flee and find redemption.

After suffering the double blow of her boyfriend’s infidelity and a failed project, Lin Xia, a Beijing career woman, quits her job and heads to Tibet to clear her head. She unexpectedly finds herself stranded at Yun Jing, a Tibetan-style homestay on Barkhor Street in Lhasa. From cultural clashes to a meeting of souls, she and the owner, Zhaxi (his Tibetan name is Ciren Zhaxi), experience clashes of faith, personal redemption, and a love that crosses boundaries. In the end, encouraged by Zhaxi, Lin Xia finds her direction in life again. And under her influence, Zhaxi breaks free of his family’s constraints and brings traditional Tibetan culture into the modern tourism industry. Together, they grow as they make their way toward each other.
