My Last Year in Beijing

[Scheming, strong heroine + career-focused + workplace power plays]

Chu Yan quit in anger because she couldn’t stand being manipulated by her former best friend, who was also her boss.

She never expected to be promoted straight to producer at her new job.

She was parachuted in, with no organizational structure and no team of her own.

She had to deal with the old hands while recruiting and training newcomers.

To make the project independent, she fought like a wolf to seize every resource she could.

Once she reached that position, ambition and desire gradually took root.

Whether manipulating others or being manipulated, she thrived in the workplace.

But she never expected that even a dying centipede could still bite.

Someone secretly poached her team members, while the boss seized the opportunity to keep her down.

As enormous profits were at stake, schemes emerged one after another.

Just when she thought she’d succeeded and could let the product speak for itself,

her efforts were shattered in the face of capital.

Chu Yan complains: “Why fight over a project that has no future?”
