In August 2023, Japan defied international opposition and insisted on dumping nuclear-contaminated wastewater into the ocean, severely affecting global ecological security. Scientists around the world warned that this would trigger catastrophic consequences for humanity on an unprecedented scale.

In September 2024, large numbers of marine animals with unexplained causes of death began appearing along coastlines around the world. Tests found a range of radioactive elements in their bodies at concentrations more than ten thousand times the normal limit.

In April 2026, Japan reported the world’s first case of a zombie attacking a human. The zombie crisis then spread across the globe at an astonishing rate, with infections and deaths continuing to rise.

In October 2029, after the United States’ plan to use nuclear weapons to eliminate zombies on a massive scale was declared a failure, the war between humanity and the zombies shifted to a defensive struggle.

In February 2032, Iceland, the last country in the world, declared a state of anarchy due to the zombie crisis. Every nation on Earth had fallen into history. Experts estimated that there were around seven billion active zombies worldwide, while fewer than one hundred million humans remained. Humanity’s future hung by a thread.
