Based on True Events: An Undercover Agent's Account from Northern Myanmar

In December 2023, I ended my eight-year undercover life in northern Myanmar. After reporting to the organization, I moved into a new role behind the scenes.

But I couldn't find peace of mind. I had kept some things hidden. I witnessed the rise of northern Myanmar's telecom fraud syndicates from nothing, and saw humanity's light and darkness coexist. My comrades lie buried forever in the soil of northern Myanmar, yet their names cannot be spoken.

I want to preserve those hidden stories in the form of a novel, so the world will remember them. The names that were erased deserve to live on in another way. I don't know whether this work will bring me trouble, but... read it while you can.

My name is Zhang Xuewu. It all began after the 2015 Mid-Autumn Festival Gala. I was on duty at a military base when a murder case meant I was to be sent before a military tribunal. To avoid trial, I was forced to accept an undercover assignment in northern Myanmar. My own older brother, Zhang Xuewen, had already been missing there for a month.
