No One Saved Me

Three years ago, my boyfriend rescued me from a fire, but the accident left me nearly disfigured.

For the past three years, despite online criticism and pleas from family and friends, my boyfriend stayed by my side and cared for me devotedly.

I thought that without him, I probably wouldn't have survived.

Until the day I was discharged. He took my hand and led me out of the hospital.

Beneath the reporters' blinding flashes, he looked as awkward as if he were holding a foul-smelling garbage bag

with nowhere to throw it away.
