Synopsis

[Fan fiction, a continuation of the Erlang Shen and Ao Cunxin story]

After Chenxiang saves his mother and the New Heavenly Rules are issued, Yang Jian, the God of Justice, begins doggedly pursuing his ex-wife, Ao Cunxin, the Third Princess of the West Sea.

This is a story that has long since had a tragic ending, about Yang Jian and Ao Cunxin.

When I watched Lotus Lantern Prequel as a child, I just thought Cunxin was noisy and annoying. But looking closer now, I can see how much heartbreak and helplessness she endured over the course of their thousand-year marriage. Some people say the author wrecked Cunxin’s character just to force the story to fit the original series. I don’t agree. If you take a closer look at what’s going on inside the characters, Cunxin’s actions all make sense. And Yang Jian’s seemingly cruel, cold-shoulder behavior is understandable too.

I’m writing this story to make up for the regrets they carried through those thousand years and give them a chance to be honest with each other. I won’t add any unnecessary new worldbuilding, and my writing isn’t strong enough to tackle an enormous setting anyway, so the focus will be on their relationship. I’ll avoid adding new characters that might detract from the story, and I’ll do my best to keep the characters’ dialogue true to the original series.

I’m also a big fan of the Golden Couple from The Seven Fairies, so they’ll make cameo appearances in a few chapters.
