Before the Veil, the Union Jack of the British Empire still flew in glory, and the afterglow of Germany’s once-in-a-millennium god-emperor still lingered. The age of the aristocracy teetered on the brink of collapse, the American nation stood on the verge of splitting apart and reuniting, and the feudal empire of the East came crashing down through the efforts of two generations of transmigrators, father and son. The age of empires was drawing to a close, while the shadow of world war loomed over human civilization.

Beyond the Veil, the Fallen of the Old Days were plotting to ascend to godhood once more. A lost race had regained the memories and history of its past from a curse.
