Dreaming Back to Samsara

A wisp of obsession in the Guixu Realm awakens memories of the past. Amid shattered fragments of time, Mu Xi glimpses how she once agreed to the Buddha's promise in exchange for a chance to save her beloved: she would enter the mortal world in life after life, enduring the eight sufferings of birth, aging, sickness and death, separation from loved ones, meeting those she resents, and failing to obtain what she longs for.

This cycle of reincarnation spanning ten thousand years is both salvation and a cage.

When they first meet, she is a Moonheart Fox without sentience, and he is a monk cultivating in an ancient temple. Guided by Buddhist teachings, they accompany one another through a lifetime. After the monk passes away, she dies for love. When they meet again, he has become the Snow God. They have both forgotten their past, and the Snow God, born without a heart, is incapable of love. The bodhi heart within Mu Xi is the only key that can awaken feelings in him.

In the lives that follow, she is sometimes an immortal maiden guarding her solitude, sometimes someone remembered in the underworld. In every life she meets that same figure again, only to brush past him under the cruel fate of never obtaining what she longs for. The person she has been obsessed with for ten thousand years, from a monk devoted to cultivation to a heartless Snow God, can develop feelings and desires only because of the bodhi heart within her.

The causes and consequences of their past and present lives keep turning upside down, and their deeply buried love and obsessions gradually come into focus. In the end, the Snow God learns to love through the bodhi heart, while Mu Xi finds her true nature and comes to understand the world. In the mortal realm, she sees through love and hate, saving herself and others alike.

As broken memories slowly come together, every bond becomes a clue and every reunion conceals a thread of karma. In the end, she and her beloved see through the truth of suffering in the mortal world. They find their true selves, deliver one another, and use love and wisdom to break free of the chains of reincarnation, achieving salvation for themselves and all beings.

In the Saha World, where suffering must be endured, all beings are caught in love
