Legal methodology is the knowledge that summarizes the general rules of legal application methods. In the context of ancient Greece, method means "the right path", and its philosophical significance lies in the fact that method is a means used by people to achieve a certain goal. The purpose and means are inseparable. The purpose of justice is to achieve legal justice. Without methods, the purpose of justice will be difficult to achieve. Legal methodology is to abstractly summarize and systematize the methods that judges have adopted and the methods that may be adopted, based on a comprehensive investigation of practical experience in adjudication, and to refine a set of operational techniques that are regular and can be mastered and used by the majority of adjudicators, thereby promoting the predictability of adjudicatory conclusions under the guidance of methods.

This book introduces legal methodology in an easy-to-understand manner, which has benefited me a lot as a newly graduated law student. The definitions and levels of law mentioned in the book gave me a clearer understanding of law. I also thought of the book "The Logic of Law", which is somewhat similar to "Legal Methodology" in that they both discuss the nature and application of law. My favorite part of the book is about legal interpretation. It made me understand that the law is not a dead letter, but needs to be interpreted and applied flexibly. All in all, this is a great book worth reading!
