Cambridge European Economic History (Cambridge Economic History Series)

Different from most existing modern European economic history textbooks classified by country, "Cambridge European Economic History" rethinks European economic history after 1700 from a unified, pan-European perspective. The content of this book is organized by topic rather than country. The main content of Volume 1 is the transition to modern economic growth. Modern economic growth first occurred in Britain and spread to other parts of Western Europe by 1870. Each chapter is written by an international team of experts covering the three main regions of Northern, Southern and Central and Eastern Europe. This volume covers the following topics in modern economic history: trade, urbanization, overall economic growth, the three main sectors of agriculture, industry and services, and the development of living standards (including income distribution). Volume 2 mainly describes the three stages of European economic history after 1870. The first stage was the era of globalization and European political and economic colonial rule before World War I. The second stage was from 1914 to 1945, which was a period of war, a period of deglobalization, and a period of depression. The third stage is a developing integration stage. Integration exists not only within Europe, but also in the global economy.
