"The Old Man and the Sea (English Original Version of Whale Song)" is a novella written by Hemingway in Cuba in 1951 and published in 1952. It is the last major work of fiction written by Hemingway and published while he was still alive. One of his most famous works, it revolves around an elderly Cuban fisherman fighting a giant marlin in the Gulf Stream far offshore. Although it has different literary evaluations, it is noteworthy in 20th century novels and Hemingway's works, establishing his prominent position in world literature, and also played an important role in his winning the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954. At the same time, the book has also been rated as one of the 100 classics that influenced history; one of the 32 landmark books in American history.
