A Secret Affair with the Son of My Mom’s Frenemy

[Entertainment industry + Beijing elite families + Hong Kong elite families] Genius piano composer x physics researcher [Synopsis 1] Tan Yuan hears that a new family has moved into the villa next door. They come from Hong Kong and speak with a Hong Kong accent. The lady of the house dresses extravagantly, and the enormous jewels on her neck and fingers nearly blind Ms. Pei. Flashy nouveau riche? That’s Tan Yuan’s first impression. Later, a light appears in the neighboring house, diagonally across from his bedroom window. While studying, playing games, or lying in bed, he can always hear the long, lovely sound of a piano. The melodies are unlike anything he has heard before. Through his window, he peeks at the girl playing piano behind the gauzy curtains. Well-behaved. That’s Tan Yuan’s second impression. Later, he sees the girl arguing with a boy her own age. They speak Cantonese, which he can barely understand, but the merciless rejection in the girl’s voice sounds lovely to him. Rebellious. That’s Tan Yuan’s third impression. After that, the girl keeps leaving more and more impressions on Tan Yuan. It is as if she is going to fill his heart completely. Tan Yuan doesn’t want to admit it, and doesn’t dare to. When he finally faces his true feelings, the girl disappears just like that, leaving him to think of her for all these years. [Synopsis 2] Everyone in Beijing’s elite circles knows that Ms. Pei Wan and Ms. He Zhaozhao don’t get along. The society ladies of Beijing and Hong Kong look down on each other. As a result, Tan Yuan and Ruan Yuming aren’t allowed to spend time together either. Ms. Pei thinks Ms. He is too flashy. Ms. He can’t stand Ms. Pei’s prim and proper ways. Ms. Pei dislikes Ruan Yuming’s gossip-worthy love life. Ms. He looks down on Tan Yuan for being a straight-laced STEM guy. Then Tan Yuan and Ruan Yuming’s secret relationship comes to light, and the two women exclaim in shock, “When did you two become best friends?”
