[Hua Fei, clear-eyed about the world, path of revenge]
Nian Shilan was the most favored woman in the six palaces, the pampered young lady whom the Nian family had treasured in the palm of their hands. She entered the palace at seventeen, never imagining that the Nian family would fall from power and that the emperor would order her brother Nian Gengyao's death. When the cunning hare is dead, the hound is cooked. Nian Shilan saw through the emperor's schemes and the empress's cruelty, and felt that the Nian family and she herself had been treated terribly unfairly.
She pulled herself together. As long as she was still alive, she would seek justice for the more than a hundred lives of the Nian family, and for herself, after so many years of misplaced devotion!
" A work of imagination, written only to make up for a regret
" With the Nian family gone, she has nothing left to fear
