The Night Watchman at Dragon Gate

Ever since the end of the Third Boundless Calamity ten thousand years ago, the mortal world's energy has spread across heaven and earth, while spiritual energy has steadily declined. With the fearsome tribulation of nine layers of heavenly lightning, ascending to immortality has become little more than a legend. In pursuit of eternal life, some sever their corpses from their bodies and turn into ghost immortals, while others cultivate merit in hopes of becoming gods. But there are also those who defy the mortal world and fight for their fate, seeking to become immortals who are eternally free and unfettered.
