My Father's Father

When I was little, whenever my father bought me shoes, he would tell me about the first pair his own father had bought for him. On holidays and special occasions, over tea with relatives and friends or after a few drinks, he would also talk about his father and all the little things they had shared… What were those years like? What was that era like? (My grandfather had already passed away by then.) All I could do was piece together scraps and imagine… reconstructing that time of hardship and glory. History must not be forgotten!
