Murderer

[Post-viewing mark, just a personal way of recalling the books I have read, heavy spoilers, please do not read] The first part is unremarkable, the whole family died one after another, the mother died of poison in a separate room after taking the medicine, the highly suspected maid and (Kiroko) brother died tragically in the suburbs, and Hatsue was pulled up by her legs and drowned in the bathtub after taking the medicine (I forgot Hatsue's identity (part) Hiroko's sister and brother-in-law are very suspicious. The answer was explained for several chapters. I fell asleep after reading more than 50 chapters. Later I heard the ending in a daze. The murderer was the protagonist's rival detective. The detective's elders had a grudge against the victim's family. (Kiroko)'s father had done something wrong in the past, which resulted in the detective having no parents. It seems that he can't remember clearly.

The self-deprecation of "I" in "The Murderer" about writing novels about murderers for a living may be the self-deprecation of Mr. Henggou.

The plot of this book is so compact that you can't stop reading it. I particularly like the character of Detective Shintaro Fujieda, he is smart, witty and observant. The storyline was full of suspense and kept me wanting to know the final truth. Moreover, the descriptions of the scenes in the book are also very vivid, making me feel like I am actually there. All in all, this is a wonderful novel and worth reading.
