"Journey to the West" is a Ming Dynasty Zhanghui-style vernacular novel about gods and demons, with a total of sixteen chapters. It is one of the sequels to "Journey to the West". The author is Dong Shuo, a novelist in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties.
It complements the "Three-Tone Banana Fan" of "Journey to the West" and has its own creative structure. Its ideological and artistic quality are considered by some scholars to be "parallel to the original book of "Journey to the West" without feeling any inferiority." It is a novel of gods and demons with magnificent imagination and practical significance at the time.
In "A Brief History of Chinese Novels", Lu Xun said that the main purpose of this book "is actually to ridicule the world style of the Ming Dynasty", and "the words he writes are rich and colorful, vague and illusory, and the sudden sound is shocking in time, sometimes like haiku and humorous, and often brilliant; it is not something that can be imagined by simultaneous writers."

The Wukong in the book is so witty. Facing the fake country of "Datang", his psychological activities are so rich that it reminds me of the Sun Wukong in "Journey to the West", who is equally witty and brave. However, I kind of hate the "new emperor", I feel like he is pretending to be someone else. The style of this book is very unique, somewhat similar to "Journey to the West", but it has its own characteristics. I thought it was very imaginative and enjoyable to read!
