After her life as a wage slave comes to an end, Luan Linlang becomes a ghostly official in the underworld, able to travel between the worlds of the living and the dead.

One day, her boss, Gu Yan, is cornered in a long alley by a rampaging ghost.

At the critical moment, Luan Linlang dodges to the side.

A mistake, a mistake. She meant to get out of the way, so how did she end up flinging herself right in front of Gu Yan?

She kicks her legs like a leaping antelope and promptly pretends to be dead.

Gu Yan holds her, trembling all over, the corners of his eyes red. “Without you, I'll go crazy.”

Good. If he's crazy, he won't be held legally responsible for any crimes.

After she leaves, the young, handsome man gazes forlornly at the cabinet, where a lifelike girl has been made into a specimen, and murmurs, “The person I love can only ever be mine, even in death.”

In the six months since she returned to the underworld, not a single new ghost has come to report in. With no new work, the ghostly officials are nearly driven mad. The King of Hell grabs Luan Linlang by the hem of her clothes and says earnestly, “My dear! Why did you have to provoke him? The Book of Life and Death is almost torn to shreds because of the two of you!”

Six months later, she returns to the human world. Unexpectedly, Gu Yan catches her on her very first day back. He corners her against the wall, wearing a wicked smile. “So you finally decided to come back?”

“I thought you might go crazy, but I didn't realize you'd go this crazy. You weren't like this before.”

“Before? That was all an act.”
