Fengshenyanyi

"The Romance of the Gods", commonly known as the "Fengshen Bang", also known as "The Legend of the Gods", "The Complete Biography of the Shang and Zhou Dynasties", and "The Foreign History of King Wu's Conquest of Zhou", is a novel about Chinese gods and demons. It is a novel written by Xu Zhonglin (disputed) in the Ming Dynasty and was written around the years of Longqing and Wanli. The book has one hundred chapters in total. The story begins with King Zhou of Shang writing a poem to tease Nuwa, and Su Daji entering the palace to seduce King Zhou. It is based on the Chinese history of Jiang Ziya assisting King Wu of Zhou in defeating Zhou. It describes the confrontation between the Shang Dynasty and the Zhou Dynasty, as well as the story of explaining and intercepting the teachings of immortals in a battle of wits and techniques, breaking formations and conferring gods. Finally, it ends with Jiang Ziya conferring the gods and King Wu of Zhou conferring princes. The plot combines historical and mythological figures at that time, including humans, Taoist priests, gods and various fairies. The plot is intertwined with reality and reality, and is rich in fantasy, creating many distinctive characters.
