"Guoyu", also known as "Chunqiu Waizhuan" and "Zuo Shi Waizhuan", is said to be my country's first national-style history book written by Zuo Qiuming during the Spring and Autumn Period. Since the Song Dynasty, many scholars, including Kang Youwei, have suspected that "Guoyu" was a forgery written by Liu Xin of the Western Han Dynasty. The record range of this work starts from the Western Expedition of Quanrong (about 947 BC) in the twelfth year of King Mu of Zhou Dynasty (990 BC) to the destruction of Zhibo (453 BC). "Guoyu" includes court engagements, banquets, satires, debates, responses and some historical events and legends among nobles from various countries.
