"Youyang Zazu" was written by Duan Chengshi of the Tang Dynasty and edited by Cao Zhongfu. The first volume is twenty volumes and the sequel is ten volumes. It is a unique and important work among the Tang Dynasty Notes. This book is divided into categories, and Mr. Lu Xun called it a secretary to record and describe strange things, including immortals, Buddhas, people, ghosts, and even animals and plants. For thousands of years, this book has been valued by the world, and its information is of great research value. The American oriental scholar Laufer and the British Dr. Joseph Needham cited this book in their scientific and technological works "China and Iran: Pistachio" and "History of Chinese Science and Technology" respectively. There are four versions of this book: "Sibu Congkan", "Xuejin Taoyuan", "Jintide Secretary", "Baihai", etc. Among the various versions, the "Sibu Congkan" is the earliest, and the "Xuejin Taoyuan" version is a photocopy of Li Yunhu's version in the 35th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty. Today, the "Xuejin Taoyuan" edition is used as the basis for the standard revision, and other editions are consulted for revision.
