Lectures on Ming History

Lectures on Ming History is a collection of lecture notes from the 1930s, when Mr. Meng Sen taught at Peking University. Mr. Meng Sen was a pioneer of modern Chinese research into the history of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and his achievements were outstanding.

Although Lectures on Ming History began as lecture notes, it was the first systematic account of Ming history to use a new format. The author examines events of the Ming dynasty through the History of Ming, and cites collections by Ming-era writers, privately compiled histories, unofficial histories, and notes. The work is rich in content and displays remarkable scholarly depth, exerting a great influence on later scholars.
