Silver Lotus Plum

The full name is "The Romance of the Lotus Seed Vase, a Wonderful Book of the Later Tang Dynasty", also known as "Plum in the Silver Ping", "The First Wonderful Book in the Lotus Seed Vase", and "The Fifth Wonderful Book in the Silver Ping". Four volumes and twenty-three chapters. No author is mentioned. It was written in the first year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1862). Suzhou Liu Fang's wife, Yan, was beautiful and virtuous. Pei Biao, the son of the Minister of War, took advantage of her and designed to frame Liu Fang for colluding with bandits, causing Liu Fang to die under torture. Yan escaped from home and was forced to take refuge in Erlong Mountain. Liu Fang abandoned her body in the wilderness, but was revived by her friend Chen Sheng with a lotus seed bottle. Pei Biao colluded with the traitors and plotted evil. Liu Fang's grievances finally reached Xuanzong, and Liu Fang, Chen Sheng and others were ordered to suppress the traitorous party. The Pei family, father and son, and party members were all killed. The novel describes the collusion between treacherous ministers and bandits, and the alliance between knights and loyal ministers, linking personal grievances with the safety of the country. The story is widely circulated among the people.
