The Romance of the Queen Mother of the West

The book narrates Cixi's life from Lan'er to the Queen Mother of the West, as well as the domestic, foreign, and military affairs during which Cixi listened behind the curtain. When the author wrote the book, the fall of the Qing Dynasty was not far away, and most of the content described is relatively close to historical facts; but there are also some unfounded remarks, such as Cixi is the reincarnation of Wu Zetian, Li Lianying is the reincarnation of Zhang Zongchang, Hong Xiuquan was not originally named Hong, but his surname was Zheng, etc. Although it is said at the end that "if there is no revolution, there is no justice," the majority of the text is still based on the Qing court as the orthodoxy. It is biased when talking about the Tianping Heavenly Kingdom Uprising, the Boxer Rebellion, etc.
