A collection of ancient Chinese poetry. Edited by Li Fang and others in the Northern Song Dynasty. It was compiled under the imperial edict in the seventh year of the Taiping Xingguo reign (982), and was completed in the third year of the Yongxi reign (987). After four revisions, it was revised by Zhou Bida (1126-1204) and others and published. The selections in this book range from the Liang Dynasty of the Southern Dynasty to the Five Dynasties, which coincides with the time limit of the "Selected Works of Zhaoming". It contains more than 2,200 writers and nearly 20,000 works, of which nine-tenths are works by Tang Dynasties. It is divided into 38 collections of poems, poems, etc., And each category is divided into several categories, which is more detailed than the "Selected Works of Zhaoming". It is a large-scale collection of poems and essays following the "Selected Works". Together with "Taiping Yulan", "Taiping Guangji" and "Cefu Yuangui" edited by the officials in the early Song Dynasty, they are collectively referred to as four major categories of books. The content is vast and the compiled documents are quite rich, totaling about 5.15 Million words. Although it has the disadvantage of being complicated, it brings great convenience to future generations in their appreciation, compilation, collation and textual research.
It not only contains a large number of imperial edicts, book reviews, tables and epigraphs, etc., Which can be used to verify the records and supplement historical biographies, but also preserves a large number of Tang poetry and essays, especially many complete volumes of Tang works. People in the Ming and Qing Dynasties supplemented and revised the Tang Dynasty anthology, compiled "Ancient Poems", "Complete Tang Poems", "Complete Tang Prose" and other general collections, all of which used this book as an important source of materials and collation basis. This book was reprinted twice in the first to fourth years of Jiatai of Ningzong in the Southern Song Dynasty (1201-1204) and in the forty-fifth to forty-sixth year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1566-1567). It was also repaired and reprinted during the Wanli period. In 1966, Zhonghua Book Company revised and photocopied 140 volumes of the Song Dynasty's remnant edition and 860 Ming editions, and finally collected 10 volumes of "Wenyuan Yinghua Dialectical Syndrome" by Peng Shuxia of the Song Dynasty and Finger's "Wenyuan Yinghua Dialectical Supplement". It also attached an "Author's Name Index" for retrieval, in order of the four-corner number, and the titles of the collected works were listed under the author's name. They were arranged in the order of collection in the book, making it very easy to use.
