This book is one of the sequels to Cao Xueqin's "A Dream of Red Mansions". It was written in the 23rd year of Daoguang reign (1843). The author expresses deep concern that "A Dream of Red Mansions" contains "too little joy and too much melancholy", so he "looks for those who have not yet reached his dreams and makes them appear illusoryly" and performs a "fantasy dream" with the purpose of "making the world laugh out of tears." The novel begins with Daiyu's resurrection. Baoyu and Daiyu get married, Baoyu and Jialan win the imperial examination, Daiyu meets her brother Qiongyu, Baoyu and Qiongyu win the top prize, Liu Xianglian marries Miaoyu, Qingwen is resurrected, Baoyu becomes an official, Daiyu gives birth to a son, and the Red Mansion flourishes. Many plots are written into dreams. The descriptions of the environment and details are mostly meticulous and elaborate, and the language effectively imitates Cao Xueqin's style, with the ability to resemble reality. This book shows the profound influence of "Dream of Red Mansions". It not only has literary value, but also has social value in understanding the social customs and world conditions of the Qing Dynasty.
