In the early Tang Dynasty, the great ancestor Li Yuan was seriously ill. Concubines Zhang and Yin were fooling around with Prince Jiancheng and King Yuanji of Qi. King Qin found out and warned them well, but he was harmed instead. For this reason, famous generals such as Duke Luo Cheng of the State of Yue resigned and returned home. When Liu Heitai, the king of the Later Han Dynasty, learned of this news, he relied on the four "Dingfang" under his command - Su Dingfang, Du Dingfang, Cai Dingfang, and Liang Dingfang, so he launched an army to attack the Tang Dynasty.
Emperor Gaozu of the Tang Dynasty was shocked when he saw the emergency report at the border and hurriedly announced that the prince was going to the palace. The prince and the king of Qi happened to meet Luo Cheng on the road and came to the capital to visit the king of Qin. They knew that the two armies were not the opponents of the four "fixed parties" in front of the formation, so the Golden Palace mobilized and asked Luo Cheng to be the vanguard. Luo Chengcheng went to Su Dingfang to avenge his father's murder, and led his troops to fight against the dissuasion of others. When the soldiers arrived at Zijingguan, Luo Cheng patrolled the city at night and found that the prince and the king of Qi had found beautiful women to have fun, so he broke into the handsome man's house, scolded the two traitors, and drove the beautiful women away. The second traitor held a grudge. When Luo Cheng fell ill, the second traitor ordered Luo An, a member of Luo Cheng's family, to fight on Luo Cheng's behalf. Luo An was killed by Du Dingfang with a knife. When Luo Cheng saw Luo An's tragic death, he wrote a military order, went to war even though he was ill, and fought a battle with Su Dingfang. The outcome was not decided. When he returned home, he was taken to the execution ground by the two traitors. Thanks to the intercession of the generals, he was not beheaded and was beaten with forty military sticks.
The next day, the second traitor forced Luo Cheng to fight again with Su Dingfang. The two fought until dark, and decided to decide the winner after dinner. Luo Cheng called the pass a second time and planned to enter the pass to have a meal, but the second traitor still refused to open the pass. Luo Cheng and Su Dingfang fought at night. When Su Dingfang learned that the Han king's troops would not be able to enter the pass if Luo Cheng could not retreat, he ordered the three armies to retreat. Luo Cheng called the gate three times. Although the two traitors saw that the army of the Later Han Dynasty had retreated, they still refused to close the gate and falsely accused Luo Cheng of secretly defecting to the enemy. And ordered the archers to shoot Luo Cheng. Luo Cheng was chased away, and he chased Du Dingfang to the Silt River. Although he challenged Du Dingfang to death, he fell into the enemy's trap and his horse got stuck in the mud. Su Dingfang persuaded him to surrender, but Luo Cheng would rather die than surrender and was killed by random arrows.

The plot of this book is very attractive, especially the plot about Li Jiancheng, Li Yuanji, Zhang Yanxue, and Yin Qinse, which is very interesting. The author portrayed the characters very vividly, which made me deeply impressed by the characters in the book. However, I think the descriptions in some places could be more detailed, so that readers can better understand the plot. Overall, this is a good book and worth reading.
