"Song Book" is a biographical history book that records the history of the Liu and Song dynasties in the Southern Dynasties. Written by Liang Chenyue, it contains ten volumes of chronicles, thirty volumes of chronicles, and sixty volumes of biographies, totaling one hundred volumes. Some of the biographies in this edition are incomplete, and a few biographies were supplemented by later generations using Tang Gaojun's "Small History" and "Southern History". The Bazhi was originally ranked after the biographies, but later generations moved it between the Benji and the biographies, and separated the laws and calendar parts in the Lvlizhi. "Song Book" contains a large number of various documents such as edicts, memorials, letters, and articles at that time. It preserves the original historical materials and is conducive to the research of future generations. An important reason for the large length of the book is that it pays great attention to the biography of wealthy noble families. Shen Yue's narrations in various chronicles in the "Book of Song" are often traced back to the Wei and Jin Dynasties, which can make up for the shortcomings of books such as "Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms". At the same time, because the chronicles are the parts created by Shen Yue himself (most biographies are copied from the Song Dynasty of his predecessor Xu Yuan), the value of the chronicles is the highest. There are eight categories of records in "Song Book", including "Lü Li Zhi", "Li Zhi", "Yue Zhi", "Astronomical Zhi", "Fu Ruizhi", "Five Elements Zhi", "Prefecture and County Zhi", and "Hundred Officials Zhi". They are known as the eight books of "Song Shu" and account for half of the whole book.
Reader comments
This "Song Book" is rich in content and records the history of the Liu and Song Dynasties in the Southern Dynasties. I particularly like some historical stories in the book, such as the heroic scenes of great ancestor Liu Yu fighting against thieves, which make people's blood boil. But I hate those wealthy noble families, I think they are hypocritical. Overall, this book is of great value and recommended to you!
Hutou, am I here a little late?
Original information, concise and accurate, rich in historical data!
