Yuan History

"History of the Yuan Dynasty" is a chronological history that systematically records the rise and fall of the Yuan Dynasty. It was written in the early years of the Ming Dynasty and edited by Song Lian (1310-1381) and Wang Yi (1321-1373). The book has 210 volumes, including 47 volumes of chronicles, 58 volumes of chronicles, eight volumes of tables, and 97 volumes of biographies. It records the history from the rise of the Mongols to the establishment and fall of the Yuan Dynasty. The Yuan Dynasty was a feudal dynasty established by the Mongols, an ancient ethnic minority in my country. The Mongols arose in the eastern part of the Ergun River in the upper reaches of Heilongjiang, and later gradually spread to the vast areas of the Mongolian Plateau. Before Genghis Khan founded the country, the Mongolians did not have writing. Later, they borrowed Uighur script to write Mongolian and created the Mongolian script with Uighur characters. By 1260, Kublai Khan ordered his state advisor Pasiba to create "New Mongolian characters" in Tibetan as the official Mongolian script. Therefore, the history of Mongolia before and after the founding of the country was recounted later, which is relatively brief and contains errors. The history book "Secret History of the Yuan Dynasty" compiled from the period of Mongolian Taizong (Wo Kuotai) to Xianzong (Meng Ge) was written in Mongolian with Uighur characters. This history book is of great value for understanding the history of the Mongolian people from the twelfth to the first half of the thirteenth century.
