"Bao Pu Zi" was written by Ge Hong during the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Bao Pu ([bào pǔ]) is a Taoist term, divided into two parts, internal and external, and was later regarded as a classic by Taoism. The origin can be found in "Laozi" "see simplicity, embrace simplicity, be less selfish and have few desires". There are eight volumes of inner and outer chapters in Baopuzi. The inner chapter discusses the art of immortals spitting out talismans and seal scripts to encourage governance, which is purely Taoist; the outer chapter discusses the gains and losses of current affairs, personnel affairs, and rich opinions on the purpose of poetry. It is full of famous theories. All of them are based on Huang Lao, who is regarded as one of the Taoist books in the world.
