Taiping Guangji

"Taiping Guangji" is a large-scale genre book compiled by Li Fang and others in the Song Dynasty. It is basically a collection of novels compiled by genre, with an average of 500 volumes. In March of the second year of Taiping and Xingguo (977), 12 people including Li Fang, Hu Meng, Li Mu, Xu Xuan, Zhao Linji, Wang Kezhen, Song Bai, Lu Wenzhong and others collectively compiled it under the order of Emperor Taizong of the Song Dynasty. It ended in August of the following year. Because it was compiled during the Taiping and Xingguo period, it was named "Taiping Guangji" and was compiled at the same time as "Taiping Yulan". The book has 500 volumes and ten volumes of table of contents, divided into ninety-two major categories and more than 150 sub-categories below. For example, animals are divided into cattle, horses, camels, donkeys, dogs, sheep, hogs, etc. It specializes in unofficial history and miscellaneous novels. Among them, eleven categories such as gods, ghosts, retribution, gods, fairies, fixed numbers, beasts, vegetation, rebirth, alien monks, and recruitment account for about half of the book.
