Qilu Lamp

"Qilu Deng" is a long vernacular novel compiled by Li Haiguan (Li Luyuan) in the Qing Dynasty. It was written in the late Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. It tells the story of Tan Shaowen, a son of an aristocratic family who could not withstand the temptation of gangsters after his father passed away. He gradually degenerated and went astray step by step, resulting in the decline of his family business. Later, he turned back and rebuilt the family business. The content of the story is based on the historical background of the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, but actually reflects the lives of ordinary people in the middle and lower classes of society in the Central Plains during the Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong years of the early Qing Dynasty. The novel takes the prodigal son's return as the main line, uses a realistic writing style, and reflects the life styles of people from different classes of Chinese society in the 18th century by recording the ups and downs of a person and the rise and fall of a family.
