Reborn, the Old Madam Regrets Her Marriage

I was the Old Madam everyone in the capital envied.

My children were dutiful, my marriage harmonious, and I died peacefully of old age.

But only when I was about to die did I learn that my perfect life had been nothing but a joke.

My husband, who had been gentle and refined all his life, cursed at my corpse,

saying that if I hadn't forced him into marrying me, the woman he loved wouldn't have married the wrong man and been tormented to death.

He even told our children to move his beloved into the family tomb after his death and bury her beside him.

As I drifted before the mourning hall, I could only laugh at the absurdity of it all.

Without my money and support, how could a son born of a concubine have risen through the ranks to become prime minister?

After being reborn, I returned to the day our families arranged our engagement.

This time, just as he wished, when his family came to propose, I said:

"We're barely acquainted. The woman he loves is the tofu seller in the west of the city."
