A 21st-century college student, Sun Jiabao, transmigrates to ancient times with her father. They gain a mother and an older brother, too.
At first, their goal is simple: just make sure no one discovers they're transmigrators.
But strange things begin to happen. Sun Jiabao realizes that she and her father can't control their own actions, and keep doing inexplicable things.
At last, they figure out that they've transmigrated into the world of a book.
Even so, life goes on. No matter what world you're in, having no money is the worst. The two gradually adapt to ancient life, keeping busy every day trying to earn a living.
Sun Jiabao also discovers that her character in the book is extremely unlucky, and deduces that she may be a cannon-fodder female supporting character.
But that's fine. As a transmigrator, she's got her own halo. Along the way, she meets Master Huang, a Taoist who can change people's fortunes, and the love of her life.
In the end, Sun Jiabao gradually improves her life through her own efforts. The author realizes that the characters in the book have developed feelings of their own, and simply writes herself into the story to help the heroine suppress Sun Jiabao.
And so begins the struggle between the original heroine of the book and the transmigrator!
