"The Romance of the Three Kingdoms in Vernacular" is really wonderfully written! Although the author is anonymous, his writing style is vivid and he tells the story of the Three Kingdoms in a fascinating way. The characters in it have distinctive personalities, such as Cao Cao's wit and Yuan Shao's ambition, both of which are vividly portrayed. Especially Liu Yu, I admire him very much for his determination not to proclaim himself emperor. This book helped me understand more about that era when heroes emerged in large numbers.
