(A note on what inspired me to write this novel: The initial inspiration came from the uncles, aunts, brothers, and sisters in a literary group. We've known one another since college. Even though we only meet through a screen, they're all warmhearted people. At first, the group was chatting about a story and deciding who would play which role. Then I suddenly had an idea and suggested writing a novel featuring the group's members. That's how this novel began. All the main characters are named after the group members' screen names. This is my first attempt at writing, so please forgive any shortcomings.) The former Hu Dynasty falls, and the Wo Dynasty rises. A coup brings a new ruler to the throne. Feng, once the adopted son of a general from the former dynasty, is hunted down for knowing its secrets, and vanishes without a trace for years. Years later, driven by love as well as old grudges, he returns to the martial world and sets off a bloodbath. At the same time, Crown Prince Hua Mo ventures alone into the martial world for the sake of the realm, enduring one peril after another alongside Feng and the others.
