Sun Simiao, a medical scientist and Taoist priest in the Tang Dynasty, was born in Yaoxian County, Shaanxi Province in the seventh year of Datong in the Western Wei Dynasty (541). He was smart, studious, erudite and proficient in Taoist and Lao-Zhuang theories since he was a child. Suffering from illness for a long time, he began to study medicine and made great achievements. He attached great importance to folk medical experience, constantly accumulated visits and recorded them in time, and finally completed his book "Thousands of Gold Prescriptions". His medical theory and practical experience had a profound impact on the development of traditional Chinese medicine. Sun Simiao not only had outstanding achievements in the field of medicine, but also had a high status in the field of Taoism. He was diligent in writing books all his life, and in his later years he lived in seclusion in his hometown of Huayuan, Yaozhou (now Yaozhou District, Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province) at Wutai Mountain (Yaowang Mountain), where he concentrated on writing books. Until his old age, he did not release the volume. In the first year of Tang Yongchun (682), Sun Simiao passed away at the age of 142. He is respected as the "King of Medicine" by later generations and is one of the famous longevity stars in Chinese history.
