Synopsis

Xue Daoguang (1078-1191), the author of "Huandan Fuming Pian", is also known as Daoyuan. A native of Jizushan, Shaanxi. A monk from this family, whose Dharma name is Zixian, has practiced Zen well and is recognized by Zen sects. He is known as Zen Master Piling. Later he abandoned the monks and followed Taoism. In the second year of Shaoxi's reign in the Southern Song Dynasty (1191), Daocheng died at the age of 114. There are poems praising him: "Iron horses gallop into the sea of people, mud snakes fly into the sky, there are three roads in Penglai, Yuan is not in the west."
