Theory of Spleen and Stomach

"Treatise on the Spleen and Stomach" is one of the ancient Chinese medical works. Written by Li Gao, it consists of 38 medical treatises and 63 prescription treatises, divided into three volumes: upper, middle and lower volumes. The first volume respectively elaborates on the physiological characteristics, pathological changes and pathogenesis of the spleen and stomach, which are based on the purposes of the "Nei Jing" and "The Difficult Classic". It also includes Shengyang Yiwei decoction and other prescriptions to discuss the treatment of each syndrome; the middle volume discusses the decline of Qi and excessive food and fatigue due to diet. Special topics such as syndromes are further elucidated, and the main therapeutic applications, additions and subtractions of the spleen and stomach tonifying prescriptions such as Buzhong Yiqi Decoction and Tiaozhong Yiqi Decoction are translated and combined. The second volume focuses on the relationship between spleen and stomach deficiency and other organs and nine orifices, so as to treat various prescriptions and related treatment experiences of spleen and stomach injuries due to diet.
