Han and Chu

Since the Han dynasty, the land of China has unfolded like a sweeping historical scroll. The Han dynasty forged brilliant glory through the clash of spears and warhorses. But in its final years, it sank into war and turmoil, battered by storm after storm, until the empire fell. The Three Kingdoms era blazed with warfare and gave rise to heroes. Yet it was no more than a tragic song of a chaotic age, piled with corpses and soaked in the blood of the innocent! The confrontation between the Northern and Southern dynasties brought blood and tears as countless people were driven from their homes. The flourishing golden ages of the Sui and Tang were like fireworks, brilliant for an instant before fading into the decline and sorrow that followed the An Lushan Rebellion. All the glories of the past vanished like smoke. The Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms changed rulers like a revolving lantern. War followed war, and the people could do no more than cling to life like ants. The people of the realm were as if immersed in boiling water, until the Song dynasty was founded and civil governance flourished. But what good was that? Favoring civil officials over the military led to the humiliation of Jingkang, an indelible disgrace and grief that would forever wound the soul of the nation. The Mongol cavalry swept across Europe and Asia, but also brought endless cruelty and oppression. The Ming dynasty was glorious, yet spent its final years in constant fear amid internal and external threats, until the upheaval of 1644 brought it crashing down into ruin. The early Qing dynasty flourished like the last glow of the setting sun, but it could not withstand the modern powers’ ships and guns. The realm was torn apart, battered by storms, and the Chinese people were plunged into endless suffering. Yet through the long river of history, a night stretching on without end, the Chinese people never bowed their heads. Countless people of principle and heroic souls laid down their lives without hesitation, following one another into the struggle. With their burning blood and precious lives, they wrote epic tales that can never be erased and will endure for all time.
