Best friends who once had endless things to talk about as students VS the distance of time and space: in the end, their friendship fades away.
Scene One:
Zhao Linlang: "Can we be friends?"
Yi Xiaoxiao nods, her eyes shining.
Scene Two:
Seven years later
Yi Xiaoxiao: "Can we still be friends?"
Zhao Linlang: "Yeah."
Their voices both catch with emotion.
There were no arguments, no melodramatic incidents, only the distance of time and space.
By the end of the story, Yi Xiaoxiao and Zhao Linlang have each made new friends, and even found partners, or the people they've secretly loved.
Nine years later
Yi Xiaoxiao slips a greeting card into the birthday gift she mails to Zhao Linlang:
May you be steady and steadfast, give your all to everything you love and come away with a full heart. May you become a wonderful person and do wonderful things.
