This book is based on the historical background of the 17th-18th centuries when the Chinese Empire was undergoing great political changes and new economic trends. It focuses on the female group of gentry families in Tongcheng, Anhui Province - they are not only branded with the distinctive mark of moral role models, but also left a lasting reputation for their outstanding literary talent. The Tongcheng gentry family, which is economically conservative, politically prudent and knowledgeable, has a pragmatic family education, and abides by etiquette, laws and ancient traditions, is a special place for the birth of its group of ladies. About the author Dong Beijia was born in Poyang County, Jiangxi Province in 1982. Lecturer in the History Department of East China Normal University. Obtained a master's degree in history and a doctorate in literature from Peking University; from 2011 to 2013, he engaged in postdoctoral research in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Fudan University.
