I watched the Shandong Theater Theater's version of "Thunderstorm" a few hours ago. I didn't feel much about it, and I couldn't really relate to it or sympathize with it. But it is indeed a bit sad.
My personal opinion after watching the show.
Zhou Puyuan and Zhou Ping: selfish, self-motivated fake affectionate people, scumbags with no morals. It is irresponsible to lure them down a path of no return.
Fanyi: It's a bit pitiful. I met a father and son who were unkind and unjust, but they didn't care much about their own children. Self-centeredness shifts and over-reliance on others. (Under the oppression of feudal ethics, it is understandable)
Zhou Chong: Naive.
