My Journey to You: Yuanzhi and the Waning Moon

When Gu Linwan was young, the Gu family was repeatedly threatened by Wufeng. She was a girl taken in by the Gu family patriarch and raised alongside the Gu family’s daughter, with whom she was as close as a sister. Later, the patriarch gave her a letter and the Gu family jade token, telling her to quietly evade Wufeng’s watchful eyes and seek help at the Gong residence. But Wufeng discovered the plan first, and she had no choice but to flee with the items. She was only nine when she met Gong Shangjue, who was away from home. Though she explained why she had come, Gong Shangjue was highly vigilant and decided to keep her with him for the time being.

The next day, he brought her back to the Gong residence. On the very day she arrived, Wufeng wiped out the Gu family, and she was the only one to escape. With her sense of security shattered, she was placed in the Jue Palace. Once her identity had been confirmed, Gong Shangjue began treating her like a younger sister. She often saw a boy around her age coming to the Jue Palace: Gong Yuanzhi. Gong Shangjue asked him to look after Gu Linwan, and although Gong Yuanzhi took the request to heart, he was far too proud to show it. As the two spent more time together, Gong Hongyu gave Gu Linwan a suitable position as Gong Yuanzhi’s personal attendant. As they grew older, Gong Yuanzhi assumed Gu Linwan would stay by his side constantly. But the opposite happened: ever since she met Gong Zishang, he saw less and less of her each day. Gong Yuanzhi had thought Gu Linwan couldn’t live without him. Now, it was he who felt uneasy, as though... he couldn’t live without her...

He seemed to have fallen for her, but he had no idea whether she felt the same way.

Note: This has an open ending. They will not end up together; the story will end with Gong Yuanzhi confessing his feelings.
