"Military Psychology" edited by Professor Miao Danmin and others is a distinctive "heavyweight" book in the "Contemporary Chinese Psychological Science Library". Starting from the concept that "war is essentially a war of the heart," the book analyzes various psychological factors that affect the military's combat capabilities under traditional war, modern war, and future war conditions, and elaborates on coping principles, methods, and strategies based on psychological principles. This is an important contribution to psychological theory and practice, and will also have a profound impact on the modernization of the military. The editor-in-chief and the authors are both scholars and soldiers. They not only have profound academic background and outstanding scientific research achievements, but also have repeatedly made outstanding achievements in military construction and response to emergencies. In the writing process of the book, the "large corps combat" method of joint sea, land and air force and military-civilian integration was adopted. Under the decision-making and command of the editors, many scholars worked hard and finally wrote a masterpiece with a grand theme, rich content and strict structure. As expected by the editor-in-chief and the author, this work will surely become a new beacon and starting point for the research and development of military psychology in my country. ——Yang Yufang, researcher at the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, I recommend this book to all colleagues working in military psychology. Since entering the 21st century, my country has gradually increased its publications on military psychology, but most of them are translated works. Among these publications, some are professional reference books and are not suitable for in-depth reading. Some only focus on a certain branch of military psychology, and some are too brief. The more prominent problem is that they do not reflect the development of military psychology in our country. The content of this book covers almost all fields of military psychology, including the development trends of international military psychology and the research status of my country's military psychology. It contains both cutting-edge academic research results and practical applications in military activities. The writing style and length not only reflect the scientific rigor of the subject, but also take into account the readability suitable for a wide range of readers. Many authors who participated in the compilation of this book are academic leaders in various branches of military psychology in my country, and their professional capabilities can basically represent the current high level of military psychology in my country. Military psychology is actually the application of psychological theories and methods in the field of military activities. Its content involves almost all branches of psychology. It can be said to be a microcosm of psychology. Not only that, many fields of military psychology have had a leading influence on the development of psychology. I believe that even those psychology colleagues who are not majoring in military psychology can also gain something from this book. Therefore, it can be said that this book is worth reading by everyone interested in military psychology. ——Wang Jingsheng, former professor at Shijiazhuang Mechanized Infantry College and former chairman of the Military Psychology Professional Committee of the Chinese Psychological Society. The book is very rich in content, covering many fields, and also introduces international and domestic research results. I especially like the part about the psychological selection and training of soldiers in the book. It makes me understand what kind of psychological qualities are needed to become a soldier. However, I kind of disliked one of the characters in the book who was always overconfident and didn't understand the importance of teamwork. But overall, this book is well worth reading, especially for someone like me who is interested in military psychology.
