This book analyzed the causes of totalitarianism and gave me a deeper understanding of freedom. Fromm's writing style is easy to understand and the ideas in the book are enlightening. His analysis of the character's behavior is also very good, allowing me to see the various struggles of human beings in the pursuit of freedom. Recommended to friends interested in social psychology and philosophy.
After reading it, I found that I didn't quite understand it. It's a bit difficult without certain historical and political knowledge. I really like a sentence in it: The pursuit of freedom is not a metaphysical force, nor can it be explained by natural laws; it is the inevitable result of the individualization process and the inevitable result of cultural progress. The authoritarian system cannot obliterate the basic conditions for people's pursuit of freedom, nor can it eliminate the pursuit of freedom stemming from these conditions. During the development of human history, the pursuit of freedom is what we have always yearned for. I hope that everyone can be themselves, not be restrained, and be free and happy forever.
A very good book, this book gave me a better understanding of freedom and my own character.
I don't give it five stars because there are some parts that I can't understand with my current ability, so I can't be sure that this book is a five-star in my mind.
So complicated, yet so right
A very profound book
I heard it's a good composition material
Hard core social psychology, there are thresholds
Although I disagree with some of the views, some of the views in this book also helped me clarify my thoughts and gave me a lot to think about. It is a very good book.
This book gave me a deeper understanding of human nature and the relationship between society and society.
It is very interesting to express some situations we encounter every day in a concise way.
It is unimaginably friendly to ordinary readers while still being profound and a genius creation.
