Art and Science, Volume 15: Artistic Images

Natural history covers a wide range of subjects, including plants, animals, and minerals in the natural world, as well as man-made objects such as artifacts. Art and natural history share common subjects and often intersect and inform one another. Focusing on this theme, the book explores art and art history from a range of natural-history perspectives, including natural history illustration, classical encyclopedias, antiquities, modern technology and seal carving, Jiangnan gardens, the Musee des Monuments Francais, interaction design, and Dunhuang culture. It offers both scholarly innovation and a forward-looking perspective.
