This book is a comic book adapted from the classic movie "Red Sun". The story takes place during the War of Liberation.
In the winter of 1946, the Kuomintang's reorganized 74th Division launched a crazy attack on Lianshui City in the Liberated Area of Northern Jiangsu, and our army fought heroically. After inflicting heavy losses on the enemy, in order to cooperate with the entire East China Campaign, our army took the initiative to withdraw northward and led the enemy's 74th Division to the Menglianggu area in the Yimeng Mountains. With the 58th Regiment as the main force, and with the cooperation of the brother troops, through the two major battles of Laiwu and Menglianggu, the Kuomintang's reorganized 74th Division was completely annihilated.

It's almost the same as the movie, but there are no explanations in the annotations. I thought there would be explanations at the end but there was none. The novel is still good-looking, the characters are vivid, and the battle scenes are real and immersive, giving people a more comprehensive understanding of that famous battle.

I read this excellent work when I was in elementary school sixty years ago. The heroic and fearless warrior cadres described in the book who shed blood and sacrificed their lives for New China have always deeply inspired me.
